The highly-awaited Season 2 of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel debuts on the streaming platform soon, and audience theories has been intense.
Season 1 introduces a large cast of personalities residing in Hell and Heaven, sets them at odds accompanied by songs about their clashes, and builds heated competitions and emotional bonds that fuel fan obsession.
The community's expectations for the new season vary widely, but certain threads recur frequently: Could a fan-favorite character break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the binding agreement constraining Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Obviously, I don't produce the show with fan service specifically in mind," the creator stated recently. "However I feel like me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She says her big-picture plan is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have received approval by Prime Video and A24, which produce the series.
That might mean fans have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they may be surprised at how fast the new season progresses, and how much of what they're waiting for happens this season.
"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," the creator notes. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some really amazing reveals, some really cool backstories, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about season 2 — particularly in the form of fan bingo cards.
"I've seen a few fans make a prediction grid about season 2," she mentions. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've actually done a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on Prime Video on October 29.
