Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of heroes who will separate from the main group to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might appear out of place, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
First, the party knows exactly where to go next after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants vengeance.
- The adventurer has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous location.
- Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his house’s orders to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could assist the party reach areas they usually can’t.
- Additionally, Teor pledged a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city too risky:
- The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This leaves them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Questers and Strategists groups.
Fans can expect finding out which adventurers will be in which group in the story’s last Overture episode, released on the upcoming Thursday.
